Behavior that is angry, destructive, and intended to be injurious.
Aggression
Vision in which both eyes are used synchronously to produce a single image.
Binocular Vision
Area directly in front of or behind the horse, where the field of vision is extremely limited and the horse is unable to see a person.
Blind Spot
A kick from a read leg, directly to the side and back.
Cow Kick
A barred restraint device. The bars are tied together like a non ridged fence. It is tied around the horse loosely to prevent horse from biting or licking themselves.
Cradle
Common restraint method for grooming. The horse is tied to a pillar on either side.
Cross-Tie
Behavior in cats and dogs that are observed as a coping mechanism to reduce the animals anxiety level. (i.e. grooming, licking lips)
Displacement Behaviors
Type of restraint in which varying techniques or devices are used to distract the horse.
Diversionary Restraint
Kicking out hind legs simultaneously.
Double Barrel Kick
The tendency of a fearful animal to bite.
Fear Biting
Reaction in animals after/during a perceived threat.
Fight-or-Flight Response
Area surrounding a livestock animal, that when a predator enters, will cause the animal to move.
Flight Zone
Restraint device with a hinged metal device that is placed over the upper lip of a horse and clipped to the halter.
Humane Twitch
Leather straps fastened around a horses pasterns. Can be tied together to keep horse from kicking.
Hobbles
Of or related to the largest order of birds (passeriformes) consists chiefly of song birds.
Passerine
