biome
A biome is a community of plants and animals that have common characteristics for the environment they exist
climate
the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.
latitude
scope for freedom of action or thought.
altitude
the height of anything above a given planetary reference plane, especially above sea level on earth. extent or distance upward; height.
tropical rain forest
occur in areas of tropical rainforest climate in which there is no dry season
emergent layer
is the name given to the tops of trees that poke up above the rainforest canopy
canopy
overhead roof or else a structure over which a fabric or metal covering is attached, able to provide shade
epiphyte
a plant that grows on another plant but is not parasitic
understory
a layer of vegetation beneath the main canopy of a forest.
temperate rain forest
re coniferous or broadleaf forests that occur in the temperate zone and receive heavy rainfall
temperate deciduous
temperate broad-leaf forests are a variety of temperate forest ‘dominated’ by trees that lose their leaves each year
taiga
the sometimes swampy coniferous forest of high northern latitudes, especially that between the tundra
savanna
a grassy plain in tropical and subtropical regions, with few trees.
temperate
relating to or denoting a region or climate characterized by mild temperatures.
grassland
a large open area of country covered with grass, especially one used for grazing.
