ingestion, digestion, absorption, elimination
pharynx
throat (5 inches long) which serves as passage way for air from the nose and food form the mouth.

(begins at lower esophageal sphincter) fundus, body, antrum (ends at the pyloric sphincter)
parts of the small intestines
(extends for 20 ft. from pyloric sphincter to large intestine) duodenum (1 ft.), jejunum (8 ft.), ileum (11 ft.)
parts of the large intestines
ascending, transverse, descending, and sigmoid colon (holds waste material and absorbs water)
liver
(RUQ) produces bile which contains cholesterol, bile acids, and pigments (like bilirubin)
bilirubin
the product of broken down hemoglobin during normal rbc destruction (this is converted to a water-soluble form which is broken down by bacteria in the colon and makes feces look brown)
