Headache
Cephalalgia
A surgical procedure that makes an opening into th skull
Craniotomy
Transmitter of nerve impulses away from the CNS, also known as motor nerves
Efferent nerves
The part of the nerve cell that transports nerve impulses away from the nerve cell body
Axon
The part of the cell that contains the nucleus and the cytoplasm
Cell body
The largest and uppermost part of the brain
Cerebrum
The space between the end of one nerve and the beginning of another, through which nerve impulses are transmitted
Synapse
The innermost of the three membranes (meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord
Pia mater
A syndrome of recurring episodes of excessive irregular electrical activity of the brain resulting in involuntary muscle movements called seizures
Epilepsy
Slightly blush, grayish, slate like, or dark discoloration of the skin due to the presence of abnormal amounts of reduced hemoglobin in the blood
Cyanosis
Removal of debris, foreign objects, and damaged or necrotic tissue from a wound to prevent infection and to promote healing
Debridement
A acute or chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by erythema, papules, vesicles, pustules, scales, crusts, or scabs and accompanies by intense itching
Eczema
Cells responsible for producing melanin
Melanocytes
A common, noninfectious, chronic disorder of the skin manifested by silvery-white scales covering round, raised, reddened plaques producing itching (pruritus)
Psoriasis
The fatty layer of tissue located beneath the dermis
