Q

How did the British gain French territory in North America?

A

The British gained French territory in the North by using an unguarded trail to attack. Britain and France both owned great area of land, but Britain started to push their boundaries. The French alarmed the Virginia militia, led by George Washington, and evenly had a battle with them. The French however said that they would never give up the Ohio River valley. Colonial leaders met, hoping to form an alliance with the Iroquois expecting war. The Iroquois refused and the British had to form a plan. Benjamin Franklin formed the Albany Plan, which was approved by congress but not by the colonial assemblies. The British decided to push the French out of the Ohio River valley. The British forces headed to Fort Duquesne were ambushed by French troops. The British found an unguarded trail around Quebec. They took it and took Quebec from French rule. After losing Quebec, the French couldn’t defend the rest of its North American territory. Because of this, the French ceded, giving up almost all of its land to the British.

Q

How did British tax policies move the colonists closer to rebellion?

A

British tax policies moved the colonies closer to rebellion because they didn’t like the tax policies. The Tea Act lowered tea prices, but still taxed the colonists. The colonists didn’t like the act because it gave the East India Company total control of the tea market. Other merchants who sold tea couldn’t complete with the low tea prices. The Sons of Liberty stopped tea from being unloaded at the ports. Boston however still unloaded their tea, causing many people to get upset. So , a group of men disguised themselves at Native Americans and threw tea from the tea ship into the harbor.
