CH 47- A &P Flashcards
Brocas motor speech area
Controls movements involved in seeking
Frontal lobe
Weirnickes area
Comprehension of speech
In temporal and partial lobe
What is the central cortex?
Surface of cerebrum
Compromised of 4 lobes: frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital
What does the FRONTAL LOBE control?
Voluntary movement
Emotions
Judgement
Broca’s motor speech (left lobe)
What does the PARIETAL LOBE control?
General sensory areas for: cutaneous senses
Conscious muscle movement (propriception)
Taste (gustation)
***where sensations are felt and interpreted
What is the function of the TEMPORAL LOBE?
Sensory areas for hearing and olfactory
**wernicke’s area
What is the function of the OCCIPITAL LOBE?
Perception and interpretation of sight
Receives impulses from Regina of eyes
What does the Medulla Oblongata do?
Regulates: HR, RR, BP
Reflex Centers for: coughing, sneezing, swallowing, vomiting
What does the PONS do?
Regulates a normal breathing rhythm (2 centers)
What does the MIDBRAIN do?
Reflex Center: visual reflexes
auditory reflexes
keep head upright, balance
The Cerebellum….
regulates posture, balance, movement, muscle coordination
The hypothalamus..
- produces ADH and Oxytocin (stored in posterior pituitary gland)
- regluates body temp
- fluid & food intake
- Integration of functioning of ANS
The THALAMUS functions deal with…
integrating sensations
What 2 divisions is the nervous system compromised of?
CNS- Brain and spinal cord
PNS- everything else & ANS
What is the difference between CNS and PNS axons?
PNS-Schwann cells (neurolemmocytes)
CNS-Oligodendroctes
Both contain myelin sheath-allow impulse to move quickley
