Ch. 4 Primary X-ray Ciruit Flashcards
The X-ray circuit can be broken into 3 parts
1.
2.
3.
- Primary
- Secondary
- Filament
Uses an alternating current
220v
Power supply
On and off
Electrical connection between the power supply and the X-ray tube
Main power switch
Helps compensate for a change in voltage
Helps maintain consistency between voltage and turns ratio
Results in altering turns of the primary side to distribute incoming voltage
Line voltage compensator
Most important part of the circuit
Protects against short circuits and shock
Breaks electrical current from going straight to the xray tube
Circuit breaker
Helps determine if there is a surge or drop in voltage
Results in altering turns ratio and voltage
Line voltage meter
Kvp selector
Adjustable !
Self induction
Creates small changes to the voltage and or amperage
Autotransformer
Gives the voltage reading that will be applied to the step-up transformer
Kvp meter
Controls duration of exposure
Exposure timer
Voltage is picked up and then sent to the secondary side of the step up transformer to be altered to kvp
Primary side of step-up transformer
