Complainant

A

A complainant is the aggrieved party attempting to bring discrimination charges against another. Respondents defend themselves against those charges. Complaints filed with the MD Commission on Civil Rights must be made within one year of the alleged action. A complainant can apply for relief from the court system for up to two years from the alleged action.

Maryland Commission on Civil Rights (MCCR)

A

Tasks for MCCR include preventing and responding to discrimination in housing, the workplace, and public accommodations. MCCR is composed of 9 members, appointed by the governor for 6-year terms. HUB refers applicable complaints to MCCR.
