  • don’t give with other sedative drugs
  • assess RESIRATORY RATE DON’T give if rr less than 12
  • don’t give if BP is low (hypotension is indicated by 100/60 or below not to give meds) but need to know their Normal
  • assess/monitor HR but remember that pain can effect your HR
  • monitor for constipation
  • increase fluid intakes and monitor all intake and output
  • Assess pain level before giving!!! (OLDCART pain assessment)
  • full set of V/S to know a baseline and what to go off of
