Phonetics
Study of sounds of speech
Palatography
A way to observe the position of the tongue in relation to the palate during articulation
Articulation
Adjustments and movements of speech organs involved in pronouncing a particular sound
Larynx
Muscular and cartilage structure lined with mucous membrane at the upper part of the trachea in humans, in which the vocal cords are located
Glottis
Opening at the upper part of the larynx, between the vocal cords
Diphthongs
Gliding speech sound varying continuously in phonetic quality but held to be a single sound
Vowels
Speech sound produced without occluding, diverting, or obstructing the flow of air from the lungs
Uvula
Small, fleshy, body projecting downward from the middle of the soft palate
Pharynx
Tube with its surrounding membrane and muscles, that connects the mouth and nasal passages with the esophagus
Intonation
Pattern or melody of pitch changes in connected speech, especially the pitch pattern of a sentence, which distinguishes kinds of sentences or speakers of different language cultures
Tone Languages
Language in which words that are otherwise phonologically identical are distinguished by having different pitches or pitch contour
Acoustic Phonectics
The branch of science dealing with the sounds of speech in terms of their frequency, duration, intensity
Sound Wave
Longitudinal wave in an elastic medium, especially a wave producing an audible sensation

Science of musical sounds
Spectogram
Picture of sound
