The Nursing Assistant and the care team
Tasks performed: measuring vitals, assists with personal care
Nursing Assistant (NA)
Coordinates, manages and provides skilled nursing care (Administering special treatment, giving medication and RNs also assign tasks and supervise daily care of residents by NAs)
Registered Nurse (RN)
Administers meds and gives treatments (have completed 1-2 years of education and have passed a national licensure examination)
Licensed Practical/ Vocational Nurse (LPN) or (LVN)
Diagnoses diseases or disability’s and prescribes treatment
Doctor (MD)
Evaluates a person and develops a treatment plan to increase movement, improve circulation, promote healing, reduce pain, prevent disability and regain or maintain mobility
Physical Therapist (PT)
Helps residents adapt and learn with their new disabilities (The OT evaluates the residents needs and develops a treatment plan)
Occupational Therapist (OT)
Special equipment
Assistive or adaptive devices
Identifies communication disorders, also evaluates a persons ability to swallow and drink
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Assists with the residents nutritional status and develops a plan to improve health and manage illness
Registered Dietitian (RD)
Determines residents needs and and helps get them support services like counseling and financial services
Medical Social Worker (MSW)
Placing the residents well being first and giving them the right to make decisions and choices about their own care
Resident & residents family (Patient centered care)
Noting important information about the resident
Charting
Having to do with work or a job
Professional
Life outside of a job, such as family friends and home life
Personal
Behaving properly when on the job
Professionalism
Being caring, concerned, considerate, empathetic and understanding
Compassionate
Identifying with the feelings of others
Empathy
Sharing in the feelings and difficulties in others

Showing sensitivity. The ability to speak and act without offending others

Trying their best, guided by right and wrong

The line of authority that makes sure that residents get proper health care

Legal term that means someone can be help responsible for harming someone

Defines the tasks that healthcare providers are legally allowed to do as permitted by the state or federal law

Getting background info on a patient and identifying actual or potential problems
Assessment
Identifying health problems after looking at all the residents needs
