Abnormal Behavior
Abnormal Behavior- is a division of psychology that studies people who are “abnormal” or “atypical” compared to the members of a given society.
Psychological Disorders
Psychological Disorders- Psychological disorder of thought or emotion; a more neutral term than mental illness
Sanity
Sanity- is a word for having a healthy state of mind — people with sanity don’t have any loose marbles. Outside of mental hospitals, people often use this word in an exaggerated way when they’ve had a stressful, difficult day, shouting “I’m losing my sanity!”
Insanity
Insanity- is a lawful term of mentally illness. Mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior.
Medical Model
Medical Model- Psychological disorders are sicknesses that need to be diagnosed and cured; neglects social or psychological factors.
DSM-V (5)
DSM-V (5)- Diagnostic and Statistical Manual -V- categorizes and describes all current diagnoses.
It is a book updated every 10 years

Generalized Anxiety Disorder- Chronic, low level anxiety, anguish, worrier of what happens next.
Panic Disorders
Panic Disorders- Anxiety attack or know as panic attack.
Social Phobia
Social Phobia- Scary of a reactial fear! Public speaking, bugs, snakes etc.
Obsessive - Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive - Compulsive Disorder (OCD)- [Obsessive] throughs, [Compulsive] behaviors.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD)- is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event. This came right after the Vietnam War. *Best for “Group Therapy” True Traumatic! Anxiety, Depression,Triggers. Hyper..,Trauma members.
Major Depressive Disorder
Major Depressive Disorder- Sleep disturbance, Unhappy everyday,Anhudonia (Unpleased).
Suicide - High Risk; Far more women attend to suicide then men. Men have a high death late of suicide though. - “You don’t have the Energy to kill yourself!”
Bi-Polar Disorders
Bi-Polar Disorders- Potentially severe mood swings, from the depths of depression to the heights of euphoric expansiveness (mania) - Extreme mood change “High to Low”
Mania / Manic / Manic Episode
Mania / Manic / Manic Episode- A period of heightened mood, energy, impulsivity; expansiveness; could also manifest as anger, rage.
Dissociative Disorders
3). Dissociative Disorders- A massive dissociation of self from ordinary circumstance; disruptions in conscious awareness and sense of identity. It can be mind!
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)- Formerly Multiple Personality Disorder - one person with two or more distinctly different personalities; not the same as Schizophrenia. (DID) Always cause by horrible trauma in early years of birth! One person taking a turn!
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia- A thought disorder and a psychotic disorder; genetic predisposition. - Outer Touch Disorder
Psychotic
Psychotic- Out of touch with reality.
Hallucinations
Hallucinations- False Sensory experience. Touching, Seeing…
Delusions
Delusions- False beliefs. Believing on things.
Personality Disorders
Personality Disorders- Pattern of Inflexible, enduring and socially maladaptive behavior. “There are nine disorders of (PD) only have to know two.”
Anti-Social Personal Disorder
Anti-Social Personal Disorder- Used to be called “Sociopathy” -no conscience or remorse.
Narcissistic Personal Disorder
Narcissistic Personal Disorder- is characterized by dramatic, emotional behavior, which is in the same category as antisocial and borderline personality disorders.
World Health Organization Study
World Health Organization Study- Prevalence of mental disorders around the world & U.S.A. is number 1 in mental disorders
