Guilt tripped people into buying indulgences for their loved ones or their own sins
Charles V/distractions
Charles V was distracted by the Turk war to have the duct of worms in German states and territorial sovereignty in religion
Peasant revolts
The peasants wanted to become Protestants so they disobey Catholics and revolted. At first Luther was on their side but then told the Catholics to crush them because it was not peaceful.
Zwingli
Was the Martin Luther of Swiss wanted to end cellabacy
Zwingli vs Luther
Fought over the Eucharist. Luther believed it was literal while Zwingli believed it was symbolic. They had a marbou conference bit could not agree
Antabaptist
Believed in adult baptism. They believed in polygamy and did not take oaths/promises. Came from Conrad grebel
Calvinism
Created by John Calvin. They believed in predestination and the elect. Thought to live eternally. Calvin stayed in Geneva and made ecclesiastical that provided cooperation between magistrates and clergy.
Peace of Ausburg
After 30 years Charles V decided to make Protestants and Lutherans legit. He retired afterwards. Cuis regio, eius religio ruler of land determined religion
Henry VIII conservatism
Henry stayed catholic despite being in Protestant land. Made sure pipes were in check and no more concubinage
