Q

Rounding

A

The rounding of numbers depends on the accuracy that is desired. For example, to round 53 to the nearest ten, notice that 53 is closer to 50 than it is to 60. So 53 rounded to the nearest ten is 50.

Subtracting Whole Numbers

A

Subtraction is an operation that takes one number away from another number. Subtraction can answer three types of questions. They are:
How many are left?
What is the difference?
How many more are needed?
The number being subtracted is called the subtrahend. The number from which you are subtracting is called the minuend. The result is called the difference.

Multiplying Whole Numbers

A

Multiplication is a way to express repeated addition. The number that is being multiplied is known as the multiplicand. The number by which you are multiplying is the multiplier. The multiplicand and the multiplier are both factors. The answer in multiplication is the product.
The product of 1 and any number is that number.
The product of zero and any number is zero.

Dividing Whole Numbers

A

Division is a process used to separate a group into equal parts. Division is the inverse operation of multiplication, and it can actually be thought of in terms of multiplication.
The number being divided is called the dividend. The number by which you are dividing is called the divisor. The answer is called the quotient. The result of the last subtraction is called the remainder.
