How are Systems Different from Industries?
Industries
• Industries produce goods and services that people need and desire
• industries are a combination of physical and and social systems that work together to produce a particular class of goods and services
Systems
• All systems (and Subsystems) have inputs and outputs
• Systems are a group of parts that work together to perform a desired task
Physical Systems can be what?
Physical System can be Natural or Human made
What is an example of a Natural Physical System?
An example of a Natural Physical System is is the Solar System and an Animals Digestive System
What is an example of a Human-Made Physical System?
An example of a Human-Made Physical System is Mechanical Systems, Optical Systems, and Electrical Systems
What is a Human-Made Physical System called?
Human-Made Physical Systems are called Tools, Appliances, Devices, Instruments, Gadgets, or Utensils
What does these Physical Systems help us accomplish?
These Physical Systems help us accomplish tasks faster than we normally would or even help accomplish tasks that we would normally not be able to do

Physical and Social Systems vary in what?
Physical and Social Systems vary in Size and Complexity
What is the 3 major GPS subsystems and describe them
Space Subsystem: Space Subsystem is made up of 24 orbiting satellites that transfer signals to earth
Control Subsystem: Control Subsystem is made up of 7 U.S Aid Force Monitoring stations
User Subsystem: User Subsystem is a receiver that takes signals from at least three satellites at once and turns them into useful information
In Physical Systems, Forces make things what?
In Physical Systems, forces make things move
What does all Systems and Subsystems have?
All Systems and Subsystems have Inputs and Outputs
All Systems also has a a Purpose or Function
What does all systems do over time?
All Systems change or evolve over time
What drives these changes or evolving in systems?
Changes to living conditions, changing social conditions, and new technologies all contribute to ways systems change and evolve
