The Ego

A

The reality principle as it exists to keep the ID in check. Often referred to as the parent. Tries to satisfy the ID necessities in a rational way that avoids self destruction

A

Can be thought as our conscious and the judge of the ID and Ego. Tries to persuade ego to do what is moral not what’s realistic

Classical conditioning

A

Stimulus can be paired with another stimulus to produce an association. Example is Pavlov’s experiment of ringing a bell and showing a dog meat powder. The dog will associate the imaging of the bell as good thus induce salivation even when food isn’t around.
