Any information in the CFS can be superseded at any time by a:
NOTAM
What is a process from NOTAM to map creation?
- A new tower is built.
- A NOTAM is put out which is valid for 56 days (or whatever the current cycle of CFS’ is).
- When the new CFS comes out, the NOTAM is cancelled and the new tower is put in the flight supplement part of the CFS
- When the new maps are made, everything should be pulled out of the flight sup part of the CFS and added to the map.
What are the sections of the CFS?
- General: Legends, acronyms, descriptions
- Aerodrome/Facility Directory: Gives an alphabetical list of registered aerodromes in Canada (the bulk of the CFS)
- Planning Section: Any of those new towers or airspaces or whatevers waiting for map updates. Equipment codes for flight plan, how to submit a PIREP, etc. Transponder codes. All kinds of useful stuff.
- Radio Nav and Comms Section: Info on various nav and comm aids
- Military Flight Data:
- Emergency Section: Transponder codes, light signals, EL use, Comm Failure, Intercept procedures
What does UTC-7(6) mean in the CFS?
7: this location is 7 hours off UTC during standard time (winter)
(6): means this location is 6 hours off UTC during daylight savings time (summer)
What does PPR and PN mean in the operations Notes section of an aerodrome in the CFS?
Prior Permission Required and Prior Notice Required
What do Cert, Reg, and Mil mean in the Operations Sections of an aerodrome in the CFS?
What does PF in the CFS mean under an aerodrome and what are all the codes for it?
