A
  1. Hold an instrument rating on BOTH your Pilot & Flight Instructor Certificate
  2. Certificate must be appropriate Category, Class, & Type if required.
  3. Pilot & Flight Instructor Certs must be Current

At what point would a pilot be required to receive an IPC?

A

After their 6 month grace period has elapsed without gaining currency with a Safety Pilot

FAR 61.57

Its a good idea for a pilot to get an IPC at least once per year regardless of their currency status.

What are the exceptions regarding IFR currency?

A

A Pilot actively employed at a 121, 135 operation is exempt from currency requirements ONLY while operating for that company.
* Pilot is not considered current for operations outside of that company unless they have met the 66 HITs.
