10 Ways for CFI Renew
1) Practical Test for CFI Rating held
2) Practical Test for additional CFI Rating
3) Demonstrate first-time pass rate > 80% (minimum of five recommendations - 4/5)
4) Serve as Check Airmen (Part 121/135)
5) Attend FIRC (in person or online)
6) Attend FAA sponsored CFI workshop
7) Participate in FAA WINGS Program
8) Earn Gold Seal CFI with > 80% first-time pass rate (minimum of ten recommendations - 8/10)
9) Earn or renew Master CFI designation (NAFI) - CE
10) Renew based on “duties and responsibilities”
When does CFI Certificate expire?
24 months after issue
When does CFI need to renew certification?
Within 3 calendar months preceding expiration
