Cessna Systems Flashcards
What are the primary flight controls?
Ailerons, Elevator, Rudder
What is the purpose of trim?
To alleviate control pressures on yoke and reduce pilot workload.
What is the purpose of flaps?
Increase lift at lower air speeds. Increase both lift and drag for any given AoA.
Describe the engine.
LHAND. Lycoming IO-360 Horizontally opposed Air cooled Naturally aspirated Direct drive
180hp @ 2700rpm
360 cubic inch
4 cylinders
What kind of oil system is in the Cessna and what are the purposes of oil?
Wet oil Sump system. Which means the oil is held at the bottom of the engine (the sump) instead of in a separate tank.
Oil cleans, cools, lubricates, and seals.
What is the route the oil takes in the wet sump system?
Sump>Oil pick up tube with screen> engine driven oil pump>oil filter> pressure relief valve>oil cooler> oil galleries( which go through the engine to all the components)>then back to the sump via gravity.
Describe the propeller.
76 inch, two bladed, fixed pitch, one piece aluminum alloy.
Describe the landing gear.
Tricycle type, tubular spring steel main strut, air/oil strut for the nose with brake discs on the main gear.
