Oil Pressure - Rising to green arc within 30 secs. if not, immediately shut down.

T Trimmer - Set for take off.

T Throttle Friction Nut - Finger tight.

M Mixture - Rich.

M Magnetos - On both, Check Master switch On.

P Pitot Heater - As required.

P Primer - In and Locked.

F Fuel - On, Check Quantities.

F Flaps - As required.

I Instruments/Gauges - Checked & Set, D.I., Compass, Altimeter, Artificial Indicator, Engine Temperatures and Pressures

H Hatches - Fastened and secure.

H Harnesses - Doors and Windows secure.

C Carburettor Heat - Set Cold.

C Controls - Full and free movement.

Pre-Stall/Aerobatics Checks

HASELL

A

H Height - Sufficient to recover by 3000’ above ground level.

A Airframe - Gyros caged, brakes off, flaps as required.

S Security - Harness secure, doors and windows closed. No loose articles.

E Engine - Temperatures and pressures within limits, mixture rich. Check for carburettor icing.

L Location - Clear of cloud, controlled airspace, built up areas and active airfields.

L Lookout - 360’ turn to check for other aircraft, especially below.

Continued Stall/Aerobatics

HELL

A

H Height - Sufficient to recover by 3000’ above ground level.

E Engine - Temperatures and pressures within limits, mixture rich. Check for carburettor icing.

L Location - Clear of cloud, controlled airspace, built up areas and active airfields.

L Lookout - 360’ turn to check for other aircraft, especially below.

A

F Fuel - On and sufficient including diversion and go-around.

R Radio - Tuned, identified, obtain ATIS or joining instructions.

E Engine - Temperatures and pressures and mixture, check for carburettor ice.

D DI - Synchronised with compass & runway orientation.

A Altimeter - QNH/QFE set as required.

Engine Fire During Start

A

Starter - Crank engine, 3-4 seconds.

Mixture - Idle cut off.

Throttle - OPEN.

Fuel Selector - OFF.

IF FIRE CONTINUES EVACUATE AIRCRAFT WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO A SAFE UPWIND DISTANCE.

Fire On The Ground

A

Throttle - Closed.

Mixture - Idle cut off. Set fully lean.

Fuel - OFF.

Magnetos - OFF.

Radio - Call for assistance.

Master Switch - OFF.

Park Brake - OFF.

IF TAXYING, STOP TO ALL PREVAILING WIND TO KEEP FIRE AWAY FROM EXITS, CLEAR OF OTHER AIRCRAFT AND FUEL AREAS.

EVACUATE AIRCRAFT WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO A SAFE UPWIND DISTANCE.

A

Master Switch - Off if electrical fire. Return to ON after 3 seconds.

Electrics - Shed all non essentials.

Fire Extinguisher - Use as necessary and ventilate cabin.

Radio - MAYDAY/Pan Call with forced landing/diversion as applicable.

Radio Failure

A

Radio - Check off/on, volume, squelch & selector switches.

Ancillaries - Check/swap headsets, microphone, plugs secure.

Electrics - Check ammeter, master switch, avionics master, circuit breakers. Reset only once.

Transponder - Set 7600.

Procedure - Carry out blind transit, speechless procedure.

A

Electrical Load - Shed all non essentials.

Field/Output - Check, reset circuit breakers.

Ammeter/Voltage - Check warning light.

Master Switch - Off for 3 seconds then select On.

IF OUTPUT RESTORED MAINTAIN ESSENTIAL SERVICES ONLY AND LAND/DIVERT A.S.A.P.

Attitude/Configuration - Lower nose to maintain best gliding speed. Select landing area ahead.

Fuel - OFF.

Mixture - ICO.

Magnetos - OFF.

Radio - MAYDAY - Call. If time permits.

Master Switch - After final flap selection. OFF.

BRIEF PASSENGERS, TIGHTEN HARNESSES, OPEN/JETTISON DOORS AS TIME PERMITS. NEVER ATTEMPT TO TURN BACK.

Carburettor Heat - On (Hot).

Fuel - On. Check contents.

Mixture - Rich.

Primer - Locked.

Magnetos - On both.

Throttle - If engine fails to respond - exercise.

Radio - MAYDAY - Call

Transponder - Set 7700.

Fuel - OFF.

Mixture - ICO.

Magnetos - OFF.

Harnesses - Tighten.

Doors - Unlatch/Jettison.

Crew/Passengers - Briefed - as time permits.

Master Switch - After final flap selection. OFF.
