Hold a UK NWR certificate.

Hold an MCA approved certificate of proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boat.

Certification for catering staff and ships cook

Requirements to carry a ships cook include operating more than 60nm from land and more than 10 seafarers.

Requirements includes

A

Must be at least 18 years of age

Have one month sea going experience in any capacity.

Be qualified in food and personal hygiene

Have any of the food and catering awards 2-4.

Be proficiently qualified as a chef eh HND, including training in cultural and dietary requirements.

Catering require all of the above but don’t have to be a qualified chef.
