Cerebral Hemisphere Flashcards
What do you call the folds of the brain surface
Gyrus
Furrows between the gyri which contains csf
Sulcus
This separates the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe
Central sulcus
Fissure of Rolando
An oblique sulcus which demarcates the occipital lobe from the parietal lobe on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere
Parieto-occipital fissure or sulcus
Lies on the medial aspect of the cerebral hemisphere
It forms a major part of the limbic system which has functions inn emotion and behavior
Cingulate gyrus
Also known as the post central gyrus
Sensory cortex
The temporal lobe is separated from the frontal lobe
Lateral sulcus
Sylvian fissure
Connects the corresponding areas of the two hemispheres
Commisural fibers
connect different parts of the cortex of the same hemisphere
Association or arcuate fibers
Joins the cortex to the lower centers
Projection fibers
