BAT
a plaster disk or slab work

SEMI-MATTE
use to heat clay at the right tempture to make it hard.
KILN
the bottom of a piece that rests upon a surface. There are 2 kinds raised and flush.
FOOTING
a low-fire clay which if then fired at approx. 2000 degrees F
EARTHENWARE
color that allows other color to come through
OPAQUE
glass-forming chemicals, usually with colored added.
GLAZE
a clay form from a mold
CASTING
VENT HOLES
small holes made in wet greenware to alloe air to escape durning firing

PIN HOLES
tiny holes in the final surface of a glaze

LOOP TOOL
a color applied to greenware and usually covered with a glaze

one of the oldest ways of forming pottery. Long strands of clay which are laid on top of eachother and joined through blending coil to coil. Coil pieces can be almost any shape and size.

mix of ceramic materials and will bend whenat a certain tempture
CONE
liquid clay used in the prosses of forming objects with molds
CASTING Slip
clay is hardened by heating clay to a high tempture, fusing the clay particles.
