A

The things that separtate chambers

I think there also called sutchers

3
Q

Siphuncle

A

Used to move gas and fluid (blood stuff) into shell to contoll buoyancy

In Nautiloids the siphuncle is located at the center of the camerae

Q

Subclass Ammonoidea Devonian- cretaceous

A

Have complex suture patterns. There are 3 grades

Also have a ventrally situated siphuncle (on the outside edges of septa)

  1. “Grade” goniatitida devonian - permian
  2. “grade” Ceratitida Carboniiferous- triassic
  3. Grade” Ammonititida Permian - Cretaceous

16
Q

“Grade” Ceratitida Carboniferous- Triassic

A

Ceratitic suteres.

17
Q

Ceratitic suteres.

A

Have serrated lobes and simple saddles

18
Q

“grade” Ammonititida

A

the most complex suture patters –> Ammonitic sutures

19
Q

Ammonitic sutures

A

have serrated lobes and saddles

20
Q

Planispiral vs Heteromorphs

A

Planispiral is when the ammonoid is in its ussual coilled shape

Heteromorphs are “odd balls” for they are not the simpe coill but look like paper clips, trumpits, and other odd shapes

21
Q

ornament

A

Features o the shell surface.

include: costae and plicae

22
Q

Subclass Coleoidea Devonian- recent

A

All living cephalopods belong to this subclass (ocopus ect.)
Have a “skeleton” (shell) that is reduced and internal if they have one. It is also streamlined in the direction of swimming (backwards)

this is why it looks like a bulet

23
Q

Rostrum

A

Looks like a bullet. No sutchers and is the interna “skeloton” of the Subclass Coleoidea Devonian - recent

24
Q

Phragmocone

A

Thing inside the Rostrum

25
Q

Class Scaphopoda Ordovician - recent

A

Look like tusks
