Cements Flashcards
Zinc Oxide w/o Eug
(ZnO) provisional cement, use if planned resin cement in future
Zinc Oxide w/ Eug
ZOE, provisional, do not use if planning to use resin cement
Zinc Phosphate
Permanent non-adhesive. FLECKS. exothermic and acidic. high sensitivity, high compressive strength
Polycarboxylate
Permanent non-adhesive. DURELON. less compressive strength than zinc phos. some molecular bond to tooth surface(chelation). Can be long-term provisional cement. DO NOT USE ON IMPLANTS (corrodes titanium)
Glass ionomer
Permanent adhesive. KETAC CEM/GC FUJI. adheres to enamel/dentin. easy clean up. fluoride release. high compressive strength (double zinc phos). High Sensitivity. Can use with Zirconia
Resin Modified Glass Ionomer
Permanent Adhesive. RELY X Luting. Less sensitivity than GI. contraindicated to most ceramic restorations. water absorption. HEMA. indicated for Metal restorations/posts
Resin Cements
Permanent Adhesive. AVOID EUGENOL. Self cure, dual cure(RELY X arch, Variolink, Calibra), light cure (RELY X Veneer, Variolink Veneer, Calibra)
Self Etch/Bond
Permanent Adhesive. MULTILINK. Does not bond to metal (can still be used as luting cem but not smartest choice)
