What is cellular respiration
The process by which energy from food molecules is transferred to ATP
What is the process of aerobic respiration?
Glucose - glycolysis - link reaction - Krebs cycle
= electron transport chain
What is the ATP cycle
The conversion of ATP (adenine - ribose - 3 phosphate groups) by hydrolysis reaction, to ADP ( adenine - ribose - 2 phosphate groups + a phosphate) or back by a condensation reaction
What is ATPase
The enzyme that catalyses the breakdown of ATP
Aerobic respiration equation
Glucose + oxygen = carbon dioxide + water + energy
C6H12O6 + 6O2 = 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
What factors can affect the rate of reaction
Temperature and pH as it is an enzyme controlled reaction
