Cellular Respiration Flashcards
What is cellular respiration?
The main process that converts glucose into a t p
Which Organisms do Cellular respiration
Plants animals and other euaryotes
What is the chemical equation for Cellular respiration?
C6 H12 6O2 ~ 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
What are the reactions of cellular respiration?
Glucose and oxygen
What are the products of cellular respiration
Carbon dioxide water and a t p
What are the three main stages of Cellular respiration
Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, Electron transport chain
Where does glyolysis Take place
The cytoplasm
Where does the krebs cycle take place?
The mitochondria(matrix)
Where does the electron transport chain take place
mitochondria ( Inner Membrane)
What is a t p
Adenosine triphoaphate Is the energy carrying molecule of It’s cells
What happens during glycolysis
Glucose is broken down into 2 pieces that enter the crab cycle and a little ATP is made. Electrons go to ETC.
What happens during the Krebs cycle
The rest of the glucose is broken down, and electrons are extracted to go to ETC a little ATP is made.
What happens during electron transports chain
Energy is transferred to a chain of proteins and the inner membrane of the mitochondria. The proteins use the energy to pump hydrogen ion against the membrane. ATP is created and water is formed
What are the molecules that carry electrons to the electron transport chain
NADH
How many ATP molecules are produced During glycolysis
