A
Provide nutrients to neurones through the glucose-lactate shuttle.
Controls neurotransmitter concentration (especially glutamate)
Involved in K+ Buffering
Helps form blood brain barrier

What is the function of oligodendrocytes?
A
Responsible for myelinating axons in the CNS. They can myelinate multiple axons and improve the conduction of action potentials

What is the function of Microglia?
A
Main immune defence in the brain. Phagocytose foreign material as well as having antigen presenting properties
