Cells- Organelles 1 Flashcards
What lets certain things in and out of the cell?
The Cell Membrane allows certain things like water in and out of the cell.
What controls the cell?
The Nucleus controls the cell.
What jelly-like fluid holds the organelles in place, protects the organelles from harm and provides some transport around the cell?
The Cytoplasm is the jelly-like fluid.
What creates energy for the cell?
The Mitochondria creates energy for the cell.
What assembles and transports proteins around the cell?
The Endoplasmic Reticulum has that function.
Smooth ER and Rough ER
What makes the proteins in the cells?
The Ribosomes make the proteins in the cell.
What processes materials and wraps proteins and chemicals in a vesicles?
The Golgi Body/ Apparatus processes and sends the vesicles.
What gives the cell shape, and supports the structure?
The Cytoskeleton keeps the cell’s shape.
What breaks down waste and destroys the cell once the cell is old? Also, what organelle do the substances immediately go to when they enter the cell?
The Lysosomes have those functions.
What organelle is involved in the formation of the spindle and aster during Mitosis?
The Centriole does that during Mitosis.
What stores the different things around the cell, like food, water, waste, nutrients?
The Vacuoles store those things.
What acts as a barrier and protects the cell?
The Cell Wall protects the wall like a fence.
What organelle can take the sun’s energy?
The Chloroplast or Plastid takes the suns energy, it also give colour to the plant.
What senses the environment and substances around the outside of the cell?
The Cilia or Pili sense the cell’s surroundings.
What moves the cell around?
The Flagella moves the cell around.
