Cells And Microscope Flashcards
Cell membrane
Allows substances to pass in and out of the cell
Cytoplasm
Watery fluids that give support to the cell
Nucleus
Controls the cell’s activity
Vacuole
(Larger and permanent in plants)storage of food water wastes
Cell wall
(Only in plant cell)gives strength to the cell
Chloroplasts
(Only in plant cell)contains chlorophyll to help make food
Base
Keeps the microscope stable
Stage and stage clips
Hold the slide in place
Light source
A built in light bulb or mirror that lights up the specimen
Diaphagram
Controls the amount of light passing through the specimen
Objective lens
Magnefies the specimen by diffrent factors x4 x10 x40
Eye piece
Magnifies the specimen usually a factor of 10 (x10)
Course focus wheel
Bring the image into rough focus
Fine focus wheel
Bring the imagie into sharp focus
Micrograph
An image formed when using an electron microscope
Mitochodria and ribsomes
Can be seen with an electron microscope but can not be seen with alight microscope
Organelle
Structure in a cell that carries out particular role
Cell
Made up of organale, different cells do diffrent jobs
Tissue
Groups of cells that work together e.g blood is made of red and white blood cells, plasma and platelets
Organ
Group of tissues that work together
System
Group of organs that work together
Organism
An individual that has many systems that work together
