Cells And Micoscope Cards Flashcards
Living thing
A living thing consists of 7 points they are: movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excretion, nutrition
Cell
Cells are the building blocks for all living organisms
CELLS ARE NOT ORGANISMS THEY ARE CELLS
Cell membrane
A cell membrane is an animal cells protection. It controls what comes in and what comes out of the cell
Nucleus
The nucleus is where the cell DNA is stored the nucleus controls the cells activities
Cytoplasm
The cytoplasm is a jelly like substance where the chemical reactions inside a cell happen
Mitochondria
This is where respiration happens, when energy is released from food
Cell wall
The cell wall is the outside layer of the plant cell. It helps give the cells structure and support
permanent Vacuole
This is a large area inside a plant cell containing cell sap, important in keeping the plant rigid
Chloroplast
The chloroplasts is where a plant cells traps sunlight for photosynthesis. Found in plant cells and some unicellular organisms e.g. euglana
Eyepiece lens
The eyepiece lens is where you look through to view the specimen on the stage of the microscope
Objective lens
The objective lenses zoom in the picture of the specimen there are
X4 X10 X20
Coarse focus lense
The coarse focus lens crafts a rough image of the specimen
Fine focus wheel
The fine focus wheel is used to get a clear image of the specimen you are viewing
Stage
The stage is where you put the specimen you are viewing
Total magnification
The total magnification is where you multiply the eyepiece lenses zoom with the selected objective lenses zoom
