Cells Flashcards
What is an organelle?
It is a tiny cellular structure that performs specific functions within a cell.
Cell Membrane.
Gives the cell shape and protection. The cell also regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cell.
Cytoplasm.
Water and nutrients that fill the cell and keeps all of the organelles in place.
Ribosome.
Assmebles amino acids into polypeptides.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum.
Has ribosomes attached to it and helps package proteins.
Golgi.
Sends the protein to where it needs to go using vesicles.
Nucleus.
Stores the cells DNA, has all of the information the cell needs to do its job and is in charge of running the cell.
Mitochondria.
Gets energy from fats and carbohydrates to create energy and powers the cell.
The difference between animal and plant cells.
Plant cells have Chloroplast, a cell wall and vacuoles.
