Cells Flashcards
Questions are based on the CGP GCSE Additional Science AQA Revision Guide (Higher)
Name three features a plant cell has that an animal cell doesn’t.
Cell wall, vacuole and chloroplasts.
Name five features that both animal and plant cells share.
Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria and ribosomes.
What is mitochondria?
Where the reactions for respiration take place. The respiration releases energy needed for the cell to function.
What does the cytoplasm do?
Chemical reactions take place here with enzymes regulating them.
What are ribosomes used for?
Production of proteins.
What is the cell wall made of?
Cellulose.
What happens in the chloroplasts?
Photosynthesis.
What does the nucleus do?
Controls the activities of the cell using genetic material within it.
What does the cell wall do?
Supports the wall, strengthening it.
What does the cell membrane do?
Holds the cell together and regulates what enters and leaves.
What is a vacuole?
Contains cell sap, a mixture of sugars and salts.
