Cells Flashcards
What is in a prokaryotes
Nucleoid, small and simple
What is in a euckaryotes
Nucleus, complex
What is in both prokaryotes cells and euckaryotes
Cytoplasm, DNA, cell, membrane, cytoskeleton, ribosome
What is in a plant cell
Large central vacuole, nucleus off to side, cell wall, chloroplast
What is in a animal cell
Many small vacuoles, centrioles, large nucleus in the center
What is in both plant and animal cells
Mitochondria, cytoplasm, Golgi apparatus, ribosomes, cell membrane
3 similarities between prokaryotic and euckaryotic cells
DNA, ribosomes, plasma membrane
3 differences between prokaryotic and euckaryotic cells
Nucleus, organelles, size- euckaryotic are larger
Regulates what enters and leaves the cell; acts as a barrier- surrounds the cell- all three cells
Cell membrane
Organelles are suspended in this fluid-like substance; helps organelles move and grow - background of cell- all three
Cytoplasm
Controls the cell’s daily functions- cytoplasm - euckaryotic
Nucleus
Contains genetic information- nucleus
Chromosomes
Produces ribosomes- nucleus
Nucleolus
Protects the nucleus; contains nuclear pores- surrounds the nucleus
Nuclear membrane
Acts as a roadway in which substances can travel
throughout the cell - cytoplasm of the cell- by the nucleus- plant and animal
