Cells Flashcards
What is the difference between eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells?
Only eukaryotic cells contain membrane-bound
organelles, such as a nucleus. Prokaryotic cells
do not have organelles.
For me to remember this just think of the cells rap :3
What are organelles?
Compartments
within cells that have specific functions.
Cells cells they have organelles!!
What is the nucleus?
The control centre of
the cell.
Like the brain to you!!
What does the nucleus contain?
It contains DNA (genetic
information) that controls what the
cell does and when.
sigma
How can the nucleus be seen?
They are visible under light microscope if
stained.
Like the blue dye thingy
What is the mitochondria referred to as?
It is referred to as the “powerhouse” of the cell.
POWERRRRR
What is the mitochondria responsible for?
It is responsible for producing energy for cellular processes.
Kinda complicated
What happens in the mitochondria?
Respiration occurs in mitochondria – glucose reacts with
oxygen to release energy.
Inhales deeply
Is the mitochondriapresent in both animal and human cells?
YES OFC
YES
What is the only way the mitochondria can be seen?
Can only be seen with an electron microscope.
E-L-E-C-T-R-O-N
What is the purpose of the vacuole?
The vacuole is used to store
water and dissolved
substances.
Pew pew pow dissolved
Do animal cells have vacuoles?
Most animal cells do not have
vacuoles, but some have
multiple small ones.
Humans have vacuoles too.
What is the **cell wall **for?
The outer covering of
plant cells that gives
it strength and holds
its shape.
Like the great wall of China!!
What are the cell walls of** plant cells** made up of?
Cell walls of plant
cells are made up of
cellulose.
I thought that was gelatin
Do animals have cell walls?
No
Please remember this Yolanda Wu
