Cells Flashcards
What is a cell??
Cells are the basic units of all living things.
What is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is how plants make their own food from light.
What is in an animal cell?
Mitochondria, ribosome, nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane.
What is in a plant cell?
Chloroplast, cell membrane, cell wall, mitochondria, vacuole, ribosome, cytoplasm and nucleus.
What does the nucleus do?
It controls the activities of the cell and is the brain of the cell it contains genetic material
What does ribosome do?
Produces protein
What does a cell membrane do?
Controls what enters and leaves the cell, protects, gives cell shape and structure.
What is cytoplasm?
The watery fluid that everything in the cell floats in.
What does mitochondria do?
Produce energy by respiration for the cell.
What is chloroplast?
Contains a green dye called chlorophyll and is involved in photosynthesis.
What is a cell wall?
A tough structure made from cellulose and located outside the cell membrane.
What does a large vacuole do?
It stores water, sugar and waste and gives the cell shape
