Cells Flashcards
What do all cells have?
Nucleus,cytoplasm,mitochondria ,Ribosomes,cell membranes
What are the 2 main type of cells?
Prokaryotic(bacteria)
Eukaryotic(animal&plants)
What do just plant cells have?
Vacuole,Cell wall, chloroplast (All eukaryotic cell because DNA Is inside the nucleus)
What is mitosis?
The process where cells divide they divide the chromosomes that are inside the DNA are copyed then they are separate
How many cells does a human have
23 pairs sperm cells have half just 23 and so do egg cells
What are stem cells?
Specialised cells (brain cells, blood cells, etc) which come to gather to make tissue witch make organs
How do stomas open?
Guard cells take in water through osmosis and the stoma begins to swell
How many stages does Mitosis have?
Mitosis is conventionally divided into 5 phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, and cytokinesis.
What is interphase?
Interphase. Phase of the cell cycle where the cell grows and makes a copy of its DNA
What is prophase
Pophase is the first phase of mitosis, the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells.
What is metaphase?
Metaphase: The chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell
What is anaphase?
Anaphase: The sister chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite poles of the cell.
What is cytokineses?
Cytokinesis: This is the stage during which the cell physically divides into two daughter cells
What is osmosis?
Where water is transported from a higher concentration to a lower one, through a selectively permeable membrane.
What does the Mitochondria do?
Mitochondria. Organelles that contain the enzymes for respiration, and where most energy is released in respiration, They are in both animal and plant cells.
