Cells Flashcards
What are the 3 parts of a cell that are in a plant cell but not an animal cell?
Cell Wall, Vacuole, Chloroplasts
What is the function of the nucleus?
It controls the cell, contains DNA
What is the function of the cell membrane?
Controls what passes in and out of the cell through diffusion
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
This is where chemical reactions take place
What is the function of a ribosome?
It is the site of protein synthesis
What is the function of mitochondria?
It is the site of aerobic respiration
What is the function of the cell wall?
It holds the cell together
What is the function of the vacuole?
To store minerals and proteins
What is the function of chloroplasts?
It is where photosynthesis occurs
What is the cell wall made of?
Celluose
What do chloroplasts store?
Chlorophyll
Plant and Animal cells are an example of what type of cell?
Eukaryotic
What must Eukaryotic cells contain?
A Nucleus, Membrane bound organelles e.g Mitochondria
What is a difference between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells?
Prokaryotic cells are smaller, Prokaryotic cells do not contain DNA in a nucleus
What is in a Prokaryotic cell that is not in a Eukaryotic cell?
Flagella, Plasmid, Capsule, Circular DNA, Pili
