Cells Flashcards
Important for immune tolerance and prevention of autoimmune disease
T regulatory cells (Treg)
Secrete IL-2 and IFN-gamma
T-helper 1 (Th1) cells
Secrete IL-4 and IL-5
T-helper 2 (Th2) cells
Mutation in this gene would lead to dysregulation of immune tolerance and progression to autoimmune diseases
FOXP3
relevant for Treg cells
APCs found in lymphoid tissues and interstitial regions of other organs
Dendritic cells
APCs found in the epidermis
Langerhans cells
Comprise 10-15% of lymphocytes in the peripheral blood; lyse other cells without prior sensitization; able to lyse selectively cells that are coated with antibodies
Natural killer T cells
Tissue equivalent of basophils
Mast cells
