Cells Flashcards
What do plant cells have, that animal cells don’t have?
Cell wall, chloroplast, starch grains, vacuole.
What is the use of the Xylem?
Transports water and minerals. (Supports the plant.)
What is the use of the Phloem?
It transports glucose.
What does the mitochondria do?
They generate the chemical energy for the plant.
Why do plants have a cell wall?
So the body of the plant can stand up on its own.
What is the use of the vacuole?
To handle waste products of the plant.
Are Plants, Animals and Fungi
Eukaryotes or Prokaryotes?
They are Eukaryotes.
What adaptions do Root Hair Cells have?
They have lots of mitochondria and a big vacuole.
What adaption does a Palisade Cell have, and why?
Large surface area so they can absorb more sunlight.
True or False:
Pilli are found in Eukaryotes.
True.
What are the purpose of Ribosomes?
They build the protein using amino acids.
Why do chloroplast only exist in plant cells?
Because animals don’t photosynthesise.
Why do humans not have cell walls?
So we can freely move around.
What does the Epithelial cell do?
Lines the inside of the body.
