Cells Flashcards
Function of Plasma membrane
Provides protection for a cell and transports nutrients into the cell and toxic substances out of the cell
Function of Mithocondrion
To perform cellular respiration
Function of Nucleus
Controls and regulates the activities of the cell such as growth and metabolism
Function of the Vacuole
Stores salts, minerals, nutrients, proteins and pigments. Helps in plant growth and important structural role.
What is Cytoplasm
A clear jelly like fluid that contains all the organelles
What is protoplasm
All living parts of a cell
What is cytoplasm
The living material in a cell outside of the nucleus
Function of Ribosomes
To make proteins
- they are made of proteins themselves
Function of chloroplast
Produce photosynthesis
What are prokaryotic cells
Do not have a nucleus or membrane but have some ribosomes
small, primitive cells, found as bacteria
What are eukaryotic cells
Have an enclosed membrane, nucleus and cell organelles
Large and advanced
Found as plant, animal, fungi and amoeba cells
