Cell Transport Flashcards
Head, UN-equal
Polar
TAIL, EQUAL
Non-polar
Moves across the membrane
Cell Transport
High-Low, Spontanious, Two Kinds (facilitated, Diffusion), Doesn’t take energy, Evens out between the inside and the outside of the cell
Passive transport
Low-concentration to High concentration
Requires energy!!!
Pumps use ACP and breaks it down into AAP
Important to all life
Human cells have pumps that maintain fluid balance and volume of cells.
Also, rely on what for nerve signals
Active Transport
Substances pass DIRECTLY ACROSS the phospholipid bilayer.
Only small substances can go in and out.
How gasses enter and exit the cell.
Diffusion
Across a Cell Membrane
Forms a channel across the cell membrane!!!
IONS- enter and exit a cell.
Carrier proteins are more SELECTIVE than channel proteins.
Help LARGE substances diffuse across a membrane.
Facilitated Diffusion
