Cell Structure and Fuction Flashcards
the gelatinous liquid that fills the inside of a cell.
cytoplasm
Power house of the cell. To generate the energy necessary to power cells.
Mitochondria
To make the proteins necessary for life
Ribosome
Suicidal bags. Responsible of breaking down all organic materials.
Lysosomes
Transporting, modifying and packaging proteins and lipids to their destinations within and outside the cell.
Golgi Apparatus
tiny organs that perform important life processes in the cell.
Organelles
protects and separates cells from the other cells.
Cell membrane
brain of the cell. Caries genetic information DNA and RNA.
Nucleus
store reserve water and food materials and are also responsible for maintaining the osmotic pressure of the cell.
Vacuole
is made of a phospholipid bilayer, similar to a cell membrane, and is selectively permeable.
Nuclear Membrane
is a dense structure within the nucleus composed of RNA, proteins, granules, and fibers involved in protein synthesis.
Nucleolus
is a complex of genetic material (DNA or RNA) and proteins that participate in cell division.
Chromatin
is studded with ribosomes and is thus rough in appearance. participates in protein synthesis.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
is without ribosomes with a smooth appearance that synthesizes carbohydrates, lipids, and steroids
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
They are a complex network of interlinking protein filaments that maintain a cell’s shape and internal organization.
Cytoskeleton
It is the outermost boundary of the plant cell, providing protection and structural support.
Cell Wall
They are double membrane-bound organelles responsible for manufacturing or storing food in plants and algae.
Plastids
They are specialized cell structures in animal cells participating in cell division. It also helps separate the replicated chromosomes into the daughter cells equally.
Centrosomes
