Mitochondria
The organelle that provides nutrition to the cell
Nucleus
The “brains” of the cell. Tells other organelles what to do.
Chloroplasts
A structure only found in plant cells; aids in photosynthesis by breaking down sugar molecules.
Chlorophyll
Green pigment found in chloroplasts inside of plant cells that captures sunlight and aids in photosynthesis
Cell Wall
Rigid, outer barrier of a plant cell, which surrounds the cell wall. Made mostly of cellulose.
Cell Membrane
The organelle that encloses the cell and allows materials to pass through when needed.
Ribosomes
An internal delivery system within the cell, which provides proteins and lipids.
Golgi Bodies
The organelle that packages materials from the ER and the ribosomes.
Organelle
“Mini organs” found inside of a cell that carry out the responsibilities and function of that particular cell.
Cell
The basic unit of structure and function of living things.
Structure
The way something is put together to allow it to carry out responsibilities.
Function
a responsibility or job; a purpose
