Cell Structure Flashcards
What are the three things that all cells have in common
cell membrane,cyptoplasm,DNA
What are the two broad catagories of cells
Eukaryotic cells /Prokaryotic
Where can you find Eukaryotic cells
You can find them in plants and animals
What are the big differences between Eukaryotic cells and Prokaryotic cells
Eukaryotic: Nucleus,no inclosed orginells
Prokaryotic: No Nucleus, Membrane, inclosed orginells(mitochondria, lysosome)
Where is the genetic material contained in a Prokaryotic cell
Not in the Nucleus
Where is the genetic material contained in a Eukaryotic cell
Inside of the nucleus
What is an example of a Prokaryotic cell
Bacteria
What job does the nucleus do and what does it contain
It is the cells controll center and contains DNA
What is the tangled spreadout form found inside of the nucleus’s membrane called
Chromatin
when a cell is ready to divide what structures does the DNA condese into
Chromosomes
What makes Ribosomes inside of the nucleus
Nucleolus
What do Ribosomes do after they leave the nucleus
make proteins, Float around in the Cytoplasm
what are the two different types of endoplasmic reticulum
Rough endoplasmic reticulum(rER): where ribasomes will attach to it
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (sER):Dont have ribosomes attached to it
What is the Endoplasmic reticulum(ER)
It is a membrane enclosed passage way for transporting materials such as the proteins synthesised by ribosomes
What does a Vacuole and what does it do
Vacuoles are a sac like structure that store materials
