Why do different cells divide at different rates?
A
1) Embryonic vs adult cells – lots of divisions need to occur very fast to grow in embryos
2) Complexity of system – i.e. bacteria = 20 mins
3) Renewal of cells -e.g. epithelial are constantly being degraded
4) Some cells never divide e.g. neurones die cant regenerate
5) Tumour cells - override controls to proliferate
