Cell Phases Flashcards
CELL PLATE
(in plant cells) a plate that develops at the midpoint between the two groups of chromosomes in a dividing cell and that is involved in forming the wall between the two new daughter cells.
CYTOKINES
The process following mitosis in which two daughter cells form from a parent cell.
PROPHASE
Stage were nucleus membrane begins to break down and chromosomes begin to appear.
METAPHASE
Phase were chromosomes aline in the middle.
ANAPHASE
Phase were chromosomes begin to pull apart.
TELOPHASE
Phase were the cell begins to pull apart to make two daughter cells.
CLEAVAGE FURROW
Part were the cell begins to indent during telophase when the cell starts to pull apart.
Multipotent
Having power to produce or influence several effects or results.
TOTIPOTENT
(of a cell or part) having the potential for developing in various specialized ways in response to external or internal stimuli.
PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS
(of a cell) capable of developing into any type of cell or tissue except those that form a placenta or embryo
STEMCELLS
Undifferentiated cells that have the ability to produce a variety of types of cells.
EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS
Stem cells that forms an embryo capable of differentiating into all or most specialized cell types
SPINDLE
Fibers that come from the centrioles.
CENTROMERES
A constricted region of DNA usually at the center of the duplicated chromosome where two sister chromatids are joined during cell division.
KINETICHORE
Another tear for centromere
