Q

What are the factors that influence cell permeability

A
  1. Temperature
Higher temperature makes the membranes less stable and more fluid.
    Lower temperature slow its function.
Excessive heat can lead to a complete loss of membrane structure.
Increased temperature prompts phospholipids to become more mobile due to heightened energy, thus enhancing membrane permeability.
  2. Solute composition
Large molecules are unable to pass, some require protein channels
    Smaller molecules diffuse through.
  3. Cell hydration
Lower hydration levels diminish the membrane’s capacity to permit molecule passage, correlating with reduced permeability
