Cell injury Flashcards
Give the four types of hypoxia and how they might be caused
Hypoxaemic hypoxia low partial pressure of oxygen at altitude or reduced absorption secondary to lung disease
Anaemic hypoxia decreased ability of haemoglobin to transport oxygen from anaemia or carbon monoxide poisoning
Ischaemic hypoxia interruption fo blood supply - blockage of a vessel for heart failure
Histiocytic hypoxia - inability to utilise oxygen in cells deu to disabled oxidative phosphorylation enzymes
- cyanide poisoning
Give a few examples of toxins that can cause cell injury and death
glucose and slat in hypertonic solutions high conc of oxygen poisons pollutants insectides, pesticides medicines alcohol narcotic drugs asbestos
Give to immune mechanisms that can cause cell injury and death
hypersensitivity reaction - over vigorous immune reaction
autoimmune reactions
